Friendly with Putin, War against Muslims: Trump Picks General Michael Flynn as National Security Advisor – by Stephen Lendman
Media reports indicated Trump chose him. It’s unclear if he accepted. Likely so as otherwise consideration of him for the position would have been kept under wraps.
We’ll know either way soon. The Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs (NSA) needs no Senate confirmation.
Duties involve advising the president on national security issues – specifically domestic, foreign, and military policies, along with assuring cooperation between military branches and civilian intelligence agencies.
The 1947 National Security Act established the National Security Council, the NSA its head, the legislation also creating the CIA, America’s first peacetime intelligence agency, succeeding the wartime OSS, dissolved in 1945..
The late Chalmers Johnson once said America “will never again know peace, nor in all probability survive very long as a nation, unless we abolish the CIA, restore intelligence collecting to the State Department, and remove all but purely military functions from the Pentagon.”
He called the CIA the president’s praetorian guard, a private army operating extrajudicially, unaccountable to Congress or the public, menacing fundamental freedoms.
Flynn’s appointment as NSA is worrisome, if he accepts, as appears likely – a known Islamophobe, forced to resign as Obama’s Defense Intelligence Agency director, earlier calling “radical Islamism” a “cancer.”
He wants these elements eliminated without acknowledging America created and supports them, saying “(w)e will win the global war against radical Islamists.”
Last March, he lied, claiming “Brussels is their battlefield. Paris is their battlefield. San Bernardino is their battlefield” – all false flags, along with similar incidents in America and Europe, innocent patsies blamed for state-sponsored crimes.
“I’ve been at war with Islam” for decades, said Flynn, adding “fear of Muslims is rational.” Post-9/11, he was involved in torture and other disturbing practices.
He suggested killing family members of suspected terrorists is acceptable. Investigative journalist Jeremy Scahill said
“(a)long with Gen. Stanley McChrystal and Adm. William McRaven, Flynn was the embodiment of Donald Rumsfeld’s view that the world is the battlefield.”
In Iraq and Afghanistan, he “and JSOC (Joint Special Operations Command) waged secret wars with the broader conventional wars and dramatically expanded the pace of night raids.”
Flynn as NSA “means that a very sophisticated, accomplished assassin could end up in a position of tremendous authority.”
At the same time, he’s friendly with Vladimir Putin, hostile to Iran, and according to Program on Peace-building and Rights director David Phillips, he reportedly lobbied for Turkish President Erdogan, raising “ethical concerns, cast(ing) doubt on his suitability for public office.”
“We’re in a world war,” said Flynn. But very few Americans recognize it, and fewer still have any idea how to win it.”
Appointing him NSA, if he accepts, isn’t an encouraging sign, suggesting Trump’s administration intends continued war on Islam – instead of ending what never should have begun.

Trump Inauguration Day Protests Planned – by Stephen Lendman
Protesting Trump’s inauguration misses the point. I’ve explained many times. America’s criminal class is bipartisan, democracy pure fantasy.
Deep state duopoly power runs things – one-party state governance with two right wings, independents entirely shut out. Media scoundrels are press agents for wealth, power and privilege exclusively.
Election-rigging made Trump president. Power brokers decided Hillary was too scandal-ridden to serve effectively. Her deplorable public record defeated her.
Will Trump continue dirty business as usual or go his own way? Likely more of the former, less of the latter – with at least three reasons to be relieved he won.
Hillary in power risked unthinkable nuclear war on Russia. Trump wants more normalized bipartisan relations, both countries cooperating in waging war on terrorism.
Hillary is a longstanding Wall Street/war-profiteers’ tool. Billionaire Trump IS a monied interest, less beholden to other ones, hopefully more able to operate outside the box in some respects.
He calls NATO “obsolete…costing us a fortune.” He won’t end America’s dominant role, wants other nations sharing a greater burden, perhaps changing the alliance’s role.
Hopefully he means less war, focusing mainly on defeating the scourge of terrorism. A good thing, using his language.
Inauguration day and other anti-Trump protests are planned, orchestrated and implemented by elements not wanting their involvement revealed – Machiavellian dark forces infamous for dirty tricks, tactics serving their interests.
The hashtag #DisruptJ20 is being used as a rallying cry to protest Trump’s January 20 inauguration. Are paid demonstrators involved? Controlling elements called for blocking his “peaceful transition.”
People nationwide are being asked to get involved, a #DisruptJ20 statement saying:
“Friday, January 20, 2017, Donald Trump will be inaugurated as President of the United States. We call on all people of good conscience to join in disrupting the ceremonies.”
“If Trump is to be inaugurated at all, let it happen behind closed doors, showing the true face of the security state Trump will preside over. It must be made clear to the whole world that the vast majority of people in the United States do not support his presidency or consent to his rule.”
“Trump stands for tyranny, greed, and misogyny. He is the champion of neo-nazis and white Nationalists, of the police who kill the Black, Brown and poor on a daily basis, of racist border agents and sadistic prison guards, of the FBI and NSA who tap your phone and read your email.”
“He is the harbinger of even more climate catastrophe, deportation, discrimination, and endless war. He continues to deny the existence of climate change, in spite of all the evidence, putting the future of the whole human race at stake.”
“The KKK, Vladimir Putin, Golden Dawn, and the Islamic State all cheered his victory. If we let his inauguration go unchallenged, we are opening the door to the future they envision.”
“Trump’s success confirms the bankruptcy of representative democracy. Rather than using the democratic process as an alibi for inaction, we must show that no election could legitimize his agenda.”
“Neither the Democrats nor any other political party or politician will save us – they just offer a weaker version of the same thing. If there is going to be positive change in this society, we have to make it ourselves, together, through direct action.”
“From day one, the Trump presidency will be a disaster. #DisruptJ20 will be the start of the resistance. We must take to the streets and protest, blockade, disrupt, intervene, sit in, walk out, rise up, and make more noise and good trouble than the establishment can bear.”

„Ohne Hilfe der USA hätte es keinen Staatsstreich gegeben“ – Gespräch mit dem früheren ukrainischen Premierminister Asarow
Vor drei Jahren begannen in Kiew die ersten Proteste, aus denen sich der sogenannte „Euromaidan“ und letztlich eine große geopolitische Ost-West-Krise entwickelte. Premierminister der damaligen Ukraine war Nikolai Asarow. Vier Jahre lang war er Regierungschef – und damit der am längsten regierende Premierminister der unabhängigen Ukraine – bis zu seinem Rücktritt Ende Januar 2014. Asarow lebt heute in Moskau und erarbeitet politische Vorschläge für die Zukunft des Landes in einem „Kommitee zur Rettung der Ukraine“, das in Opposition zur derzeitigen Regierung in Kiew steht.

In der Abschlusserklärung des Gipfels der Asiatisch-Pazifischen Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, APEC) in Lima, deren Entwurf der Nachrichtenagentur AFP vorlag, werden »offene Märkte« und der »Kampf gegen jede Art des Protektionismus« gefordert. Der Milliardär Donald Trump soll am 20. Januar 2017 als 45. Präsident der USA vereidigt werden. Seit seinem Wahlsieg am 8. November ist der 70jährige mit der Besetzung seines Kabinetts und anderer Führungspositionen beschäftigt. Am Donnerstag wurden nun drei neue Nominierungen bekannt. Sie betreffen Trumps nationalen Sicherheitsberater, den Chef des Auslandsgeheimdienstes CIA und den Justizminister. Überraschungen sind nicht darunter, denn diese Männer gehörten schon seit Monaten zu Trumps engstem Berater- und Unterstützerkreis.

Make Europe great again (Außenpolitik-Experten fordern Schulterschluss gegen die USA) German Foreign Policy
Außenpolitik-Experten fordern den Schulterschluss der EU gegen die künftig von Donald Trump regierten USA. Eine einheitliche europäische Politik sei notwendig, um genug „Hebelkraft“ im Umgang mit Washington zu erhalten, heißt es beim European Council on Foreign Relations. Ignoriere der designierte US-Präsident europäische Interessen, dann sei auch in Erwägung zu ziehen, in der Weltpolitik eigene Wege zu gehen, heißt es in einem Berliner Beitrag in der führenden Außenpolitik-Zeitschrift der Vereinigten Staaten. Wenn nötig, müsse man sogar „in Betracht ziehen …, einen europäischen Nuklearschild zu entwickeln“. Die Forderungen werden laut, nachdem liberale westliche Medien sowie Teile des außenpolitischen Establishments die deutsche Kanzlerin zur „Anführerin des liberalen Westens“ erklärt und die Deutschland-Reise des scheidenden US-Präsidenten Barack Obama als „Staffelübergabe“ an Berlin eingestuft haben. Die Bundesrepublik schicke sich an, heißt es, „Amerikas Status als Fackelträger der liberalen Demokratie“ zu übernehmen; „es kommt Frau Merkel zu, für das zu sprechen, was wir in den vergangenen sieben Jahrzehnten als den Westen kannten“, heißt es in der Wirtschaftspresse. Journalisten urteilen über die Stimmung in Berlin, dort sehe man sich bereits als „Wächter der internationalen Nachkriegsordnung“.

Crimea’s Return to Russia
Svetlana Miroshnichenko is a resident of Sevastopol in The Crimea. She was among the tens of thousands of Sevastopol residents who gathered every evening in what has to be described as direct Democracy, sharing their thoughts, opinions, and views about the coup in Ukraine and their fears that violence would erupt in Crimea. Thousands of residents dubbed the Citizens Defense Force protected their city and borders from possible attacks by the right wing, neo-nazis in Ukraine. Svetlana explains that the referendum came from the bottom up – the people and their local government and not from Russia.
It was only after the overwhelming results to rejoin the Russian Federation from across The Crimea that President Putin accepted the return and made it official in a public policy document. The overwhelming majority of Crimeans were ecstatic and hold President Putin in high regards. His picture appears on billboards all over The Crimea, on coffee cups, and t-shirts.
The background to this story is that Crimea had always been part of Russia, for centuries, in fact. Nikita Khrushchev, in order to gain political favor from the Ukraine during the Soviet Union, gifted Crimea to the Ukraine. Under an agreement between Russia and Ukraine, Russia could station thousands of troops in Crimea because it had always been Russia’s warm-water naval base. At the time of the referendum to return to Russia, there was NO invasion by Russian troops because they were already in Crimea. Everyone made it clear that even with the gift of The Crimea to Ukraine, Ukraine was not a separate country, but part of the Soviet Union.
After the coup in Ukraine in 2014, the vast majority of Russians who made up The Crimea, did not want to remain under the right-wing, neo-nazi government in Kiev, and hence, the referendum. This is another first-hand testimony that contradicts the US narrative that President Putin and Russia invaded The Crimea and annexed it to the Russian Federation.

Trump und der Weg Deutschlands zur Weltordnungsmacht
Der angebliche „Isolationismus“ des neuen US-Präsidenten Donald Trump wird erwartungsgemäß nicht zu weniger Kriegen führen, sondern lediglich zu einer Neuaufteilung von Aufgaben unter den globalen Kriegsmächten. Dabei folgt Trump konsequent Entwicklungen, die schon seit Jahren vorangetrieben werden: Von der Bundesrepublik Deutschland wird verlangt, künftig weitaus mehr für Rüstung auszugeben und sich „führend“ als militärische Ordnungsmacht in Europa, in Nordafrika sowie im Nahen Osten bis Zentralasien zu engagieren. Ein äußerst bedrohliches Szenario.

Karin Leukefeld in Syrien: „Man ist froh, dass Hillary Clinton nicht gewonnen hat“ (junge Welt)
RT Deutsch-Korrespondentin Karin Leukefeld ist wieder in Syrien. Dort stellte sie fest, dass man die Wahl Trumps zum neuen US-Präsidenten wohlwollend aufnahm. Doch es gibt auch andere Stimmen. Stimmen, die irritiert sind von den aggressiven Äußerungen des neuen US-Präsidenten im Vorfeld der Wahl.
Dennoch sind die Syrer froh, dass es nicht Hillary Clinton ist, die ins Weiße Haus einzieht. Weiter gibt die Korrespondentin eine Einschätzung zu der Frage, ob Russland und die USA zukünftig an einem Strang ziehen.
