Russia will not support new EU sanctions against Syria, stated the spokesperson for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, Aleksandr Lukashevich.
None of the “ships carrying the Russian flag” will be searched for any unsanctioned materials, he said.
The new wave of EU sanctions includes a procedure for searching vessels suspected of carrying weapons into Syria. Any additional sanctions against Syria are a violation of Syria’s sovereignty, Lukashevich added.
