Syria – Reports on the Douma Bombing

Douma is very close to the centre of Damascus, ONLY 10 kms –
Damascus was shelled heavily from there and other rebel held suburbs only a few days ago.

former reports of Assads crimes were often proven to be false or overblown.
videos are often used for that.
civilians are often kept as human shields by the „rebels“
the syrian army lost 50.000 men – some sources say way more.
they fight for their own capital city knowing what waits for the people when Damascus is taken.
who arms the rebels, pays them, publishes thousands of „news“ articles for them?

on August 12 we had the following report:

State television said in a breaking news alert that „terrorists shelled residential neighborhoods in Damascus, killing a number of citizens and wounding others,“ without giving further details on casualties.

It also reported material damage caused the heavy rocket fire.

Rebels often fire into the Syrian capital from nearby bases on the outskirts of Damascus, including at times barrages of hundreds of missiles.

Rights groups have condemned the indiscriminate rebel shelling on the capital, saying it amounts to war crimes.

The rebel shelling, which apparently meant to send a message that Zarif was not welcome in Syria, began around the morning rush hour in Damascus. More than 50 shells struck the city, including in the upper-class neighborhoods of Abu Rummaneh, Baramkeh and Qasaa.

Five people were killed and dozens were wounded, according to Syrian state TV and the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

„We hid for two hours in the bathroom,“ said a resident over the telephone from Qasaa, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals. „My children woke up terrified. Our windows were shattered and so was my car’s windshield.“

Shortly afterward, government warplanes unleashed a wave of airstrikes on several rebel-held suburbs of the capital. The Local Coordination Committees, an activist group, said the air raids on Hamouriyeh, Saqba, Kfar Batna, Douma and Arbeen killed 35 people and wounded dozens. The Observatory said the airstrikes killed at least 31 and wounded more than 120.

—————–
In July of 1941 Nazi-Germany bombers raided Moscow, even damaging the Kremlin. On 2 Oct 1941 german troops were ordered to assault directly against Moscow. Finally some troops were only 27 kms away from Moscow, with some soldiers claiming the sighting of the towers of Kremlin. The rest is history. The defenders of Moscow are not yet smeared as warcriminals but are still considered to be heroes. I would say the same should go for the syrian soldiers defending their capital and other major cities against a foreign backed insurgency.

we should never alter our opposition to war, but stress the demand for non-interventionism.
