The Outraged Berlin * This is the text we received today from our brothers and sisters from aCampada Berlin.
Hi everybody,
we are a loose network of politically-critical people that are occupying the square Alexanderplatz in Berlin since Saturday night. After the beginning of the big demonstrations in Spain in the middle of May this year, some of us started supporting the idea “Real Democracy Now!”. In the spirit of the international 15-M movement, we consider ourselves an open forum, a kind of public platform. The occupation of Alexanderplatz is registered as a demonstration and has been tolerated so far.We demonstrate above all to express our displeasure over a collapsed social system, which is artificially maintained alive and day after day leads to more poverty, more war, more injustice and more exploitation in the world.
We all need a fundamental change in our societies – but we also know that it cannot happen overnight. We thus think that it is time to come together. It is time to occupy the public space and to commonly start dialoguing.
We understand this also as an important signal to our European neighbors. Resentments emerge everywhere and everywhere people show that they do not agree with the current system – while Germany mostly remains silent. In the worst case, this can lead to an enduring division of Europe’s peoples. This is thus our appeal:
Pack your tents and come to Alexanderplatz! Let us together play music, discuss, perform street art, argue, have fun and be creative!
Please spread out this appeal also over your networks, mailing lists, etc. We think that it is everybody’s interest that this call reaches as many people as possible.
Regards
